About us
Sensory Modulation Brisbane is an education and training service conceived and facilitated by Occupational Therapists Carolyn Fitzgibbon and Julie O’Sullivan. Carolyn & Julie have worked together for over 25 years, sharing extensive clinical knowledge, expertise and practical experience in the implementation of sensory modulation and sensory approaches at intervention and service development levels. Carolyn and Julie have a wide range of published work, including journal articles, the Sensory Modulation Resource Manual and the chapter 'Sensory modulation interventions in practice when working with trauma' in Sensory Approaches to Mental Health Practice-First Edition (available 27/03/2026). Carolyn & Julie conduct trainings, webinars & workshops for national and international services and agencies for different professional groups and stakeholders on sensory modulation interventions and the integration of these into the workplace. They have a range of on-demand trainings (accessible via the training section of this website) catering for individuals, clinicians, family and support workers, helping people build awareness and skills in sensory approaches that go beyond traditional calming and alerting models, to enhance quality of life and participation in meaningful occupations.
